introducing the FOTOBOOTH!!

i’m VERY excited to introduce to you all a very new service for wedding receptions that i am now offering. its called the fotobooth. i introduced my fotobooth for the first time at ashlee & tom’s wedding last week at the landmark center in saint paul.

so many of my clients over the years have rented digital photo booths for their wedding receptions and they’re very neat and very popular. about 5 years ago i saw a colleague of mine demo a photographer’s kind of photo booth at a convention in las vegas and i thought, “what a great idea!”. well, since then i’ve seen many local national colleagues of mine also pick up and start to offer this very service to their clients. i know several friends of mine who have been offering wedding photo booths for their wedding receptions for the last year or two. needless to say, i dragged my feet on it a little bit, but i’m very happy to say its now here!!

for the fotobooth, what i do is what some people call a photographer’s version of a photobooth. instead of having a confined and enclosed “booth” space, i instead have a completely open space with a plain white backdrop. i then setup a high quality DSLR camera to a couple studio lights to create what is known as a high-key setup. everything is automated and controlled by computer so at anytime, one person or a BIG group of people can come up and have their photo taken.

its a very fun thing to have at a wedding reception and because its all automated, it really gets people to have some fun and loosen up a bit, as you can see in the examples down below.

in a few months i’ll also have the option to print photos on-site for wedding guests as well for an additional fee. but all told, this service will only be available to brides and grooms who book me to photograph their wedding, but it will be the best deal in town by far for a wedding photobooth.

that’s right! halloween is now past so were are now fully in the holiday season!! and this year i have some fabulous new designs for holiday cards!! here is just one sample:

state fair fun!!!

ok, so after i posted about checking to see if anyone wanted to go to the state fair, i did get two couples to respond and say they wanted to go! sarah & michael got married this year back in may, and steph & tom are getting married this october. now in case you’re wondering (everyone always asks me), both gals did NOT wear their actual wedding dress. i think sarah found hers at a thrift store (a great way to find cheap wedding dresses for fun!! ) and steph had a friend who was kind enough to lend hers to use.

but we had a great time out there and it was fun to go back again since i didn’t go at all last year. here are some faves from the two shoots in no particular order:

so after a two year hiatus, i’m thinking of going back and doing some shooting at the state fair again this year. two years ago i took 5 couples to the state fair and had an absolute BLAST! well, so far i’m going there with one couple, kris & jamie, but i’m wondering if anyone else wants to go and have a wild and fun time.

if anyone is, LET ME KNOW! i’d love to do some more this year and expand on some cool ideas i have.

i’ve been bad…. again…

hello again! sorry its been so long. its been a very short winter but despite not shooting many weddings during that time, i’ve been quite busy none the less. during the winter is when i tackle most of the albums for the year and other projects like that. its was busy winter, but now its going to be an even busier summer with hopefully at least weekly updates to my blog.

but first i’m going to catch you up on some of the shoots that i did over the winter. enjoy!

i always love getting emails from my clients and hearing how they’re doing! today i got an email from jenny & ryan. do you remember jenny & ryan? click here for a refresher. anyway, they were kind enough to send me a photo of their halloween outfits from yesterday and i figured that they were simply too good to pass up. so i just had to share. i hope they don’t mind….

i know i know… i’ve been a very very bad boy. . . its been almost 2 months since i last updated the blog. what can i say?! in this part of the country, fall is the busiest time for weddings and september and october are often the busiest times of the year for me and this year was no exception, so while i’m trying to juggle a million different things, the blog unfortunately got pushed back.

but we’re back!! i hope everyone had a wonderful halloween! it was rather chilly out and as usual, i bought way too much candy. though i swear it wasn’t on purpose. honest! as many of you know, my wife and i just moved into our new house about 7 months ago, so this was our first halloween in shakopee. well, our house is in a growing development, but the development is kind of off on its own, so needless to say, we didn’t get very many trick-or-treat’ers. maybe 30 total.

but i’m going to try and update all of the shoots that have happened since early september and there have been many of them! i probably won’t go into too many details as i really want to post as much as i can, but i have throroughly enjoyed working with each and every one of my clients. they all absolutely rock! its my clients that truly make my work a total joy and i love being able to share it with everyone. so sit back, kick up your feat and enjoy some long overdue piccies!
