introducing the FOTOBOOTH!!

i’m VERY excited to introduce to you all a very new service for wedding receptions that i am now offering. its called the fotobooth. i introduced my fotobooth for the first time at ashlee & tom’s wedding last week at the landmark center in saint paul.

so many of my clients over the years have rented digital photo booths for their wedding receptions and they’re very neat and very popular. about 5 years ago i saw a colleague of mine demo a photographer’s kind of photo booth at a convention in las vegas and i thought, “what a great idea!”. well, since then i’ve seen many local national colleagues of mine also pick up and start to offer this very service to their clients. i know several friends of mine who have been offering wedding photo booths for their wedding receptions for the last year or two. needless to say, i dragged my feet on it a little bit, but i’m very happy to say its now here!!

for the fotobooth, what i do is what some people call a photographer’s version of a photobooth. instead of having a confined and enclosed “booth” space, i instead have a completely open space with a plain white backdrop. i then setup a high quality DSLR camera to a couple studio lights to create what is known as a high-key setup. everything is automated and controlled by computer so at anytime, one person or a BIG group of people can come up and have their photo taken.

its a very fun thing to have at a wedding reception and because its all automated, it really gets people to have some fun and loosen up a bit, as you can see in the examples down below.

in a few months i’ll also have the option to print photos on-site for wedding guests as well for an additional fee. but all told, this service will only be available to brides and grooms who book me to photograph their wedding, but it will be the best deal in town by far for a wedding photobooth.

ashlee & tom – married november 28th, 2009

just last weekend i photographed ashlee and tom’s wedding in saint paul. they had their reception at the landmark center next to rice park and for a wedding happening in late november, we had some amazing weather! it was like the middle of october! we were able to do so much photography outside because of the great weather. it was also the day that they lit the christmas tree in rice park and we enjoyed a little time with that along with the ice skating rink right next to the landmark center too. so much fun winter fun on a rather non-wintery day!

beverly + aaron – married october 10th, 2009

beverly & aaron were married last saturday on what usually is supposed to be one of the most beautiful weekends in this part of the state every year. really! usually the fall colors peak around the 2nd week of october each year, so it should have been beautiful and warm and full of lovely fall colors…. but we woke up that morning to snow! crazy… well, regardless it was a bit chilly but we decided to make the most of it and still spent a good amount of time outside.

beverly and aaron met in college when aaron was very involved in baseball and with many of his friends also strongly involved, we had to do a include a little baseball into the day!

amy + matt – married october 3rd, 2009

amy & matt had a lovely wedding on a slightly rainy day during the first weekend in october. its been oddly cool lately, but we certainly made the most of the day we had. i had a very fun time at amy & matt’s wedding. they have a very cute little son named Cole and at the beginning of the wedding their ring bearer had the most pouty look i’ve ever seen! it was the funniest thing!! check it out below and you’ll see what i mean.

amy & matt had their reception at the always fantastic Jax Cafe in northeast minneapolis. i always enjoy the receptions i cover there.

aja + aram – married september 19th, 2009

aja & aram’s story is a very sweet one, going all the way back to the beginning of grade school when aram had a crush on aja, but never fulfilled it until he was much much older needless to say. i had the good fortune to photograph aja’s brother’s wedding a few years ago and now it was aja’s turn.

aja & aram had their wedding at st. sahag’s armenian church in saint paul and then had their reception at aja’s parents home on summit avenue in saint paul. on their way from the ceremony to the reception, aram surprised aja with a trip to the school they grew up together at and he even contacted some of their old teachers to meet them there!

nicole + jason – married august 29th, 2009

nicole & jason had a fantastic wedding and reception at nicollet island pavilion, downtown minneapolis. i always chuckle a little when i think about how i met nicole and jason. nicole had emailed me, half interested in having me photograph her wedding and half interested in finding out where a former bride got her dress because she had to have it! well, despite my efforts, i wasn’t able to find out where exactly one of my brides found her dress, but shortly after that nicole found it anyway! what luck! needless to say, both nicole and my first bride who wore that same dress, both looked stunning in it.

nicole and jason had a very fun and laid back wedding. one thing that was very unique was their wedding dance entertainment. instead of a DJ or a band, they hired a couple guys who perform as dueling pianos! and let me tell you, they were fantastic! i had never seen that done before at a wedding, and these guys were very very good. i definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them in the future!

emily + warren – married august 22nd, 2009

emily & warren were a fantastic couple to work with. i had never met them both in person before their wedding day as all of our communication had been over email and the phone because they both currently live in washington DC. emily grew up in north dakota and decided to have their wedding just outside of pelican rapids near pelican lake in northwestern minnesota. so it was a little bit of a drive up for me, but not too bad by any means.

we were truly blessed with a fantastic day weather-wise last saturday and we definitely took advantage of it. they had their wedding ceremony at the cutest little lutheran church that seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere. it was all by itself with nothing surrounding it but fields and lakes, but just the cutest little church. and then for their reception, they had it at emily’s aunt and uncle’s lake home on pelican lake. what a beautiful setting!

kirsten + darrin – married august 8th, 2009

kirsten & darrin had their wedding last saturday at a nice little church in bloomington that i last photographed a wedding at a few years ago. its funny how sometimes you don’t realize that you’ve photographed somewhere until you get there and it all comes back.

their had their casual reception at a really cool dance studio near loring park. it had really great ambiance and of course a fantastic dance floor. what a perfect space!
