Welcome, O Great Blog-Checker-Outer.
I’m glad you’re here.

Much as I love them, my life is not all cameras, cameras, cameras. Once in a while I do get out from behind the lens to do other things. And this is where I report back. Usually with a photo. So technically, I guess I’m not entirely out from behind the lens. But that said, I’ll try not to bore you with chat about f-stops and the beauty of natural light. Though I must say, natural light is a wondrous thing.

They say photographers tend to be observers. And it’s true. Observe, I do. So this is my place to share deep thoughts that—come to think of it—aren’t actually all that deep. Or thoughtful. Ok, maybe they’re not deep thoughts at all. They’re quippy-er. More like captions. You know, to go with the photos. And if pictures really do have that thousand-word thing going for them, there’s not much more to be said.

Peruse. Enjoy. Feel free to comment.

ashlee + tom – engaged to be married

earlier this week in preparation for ashlee & tom’s wedding next month, we had their engagement session on a really nice late fall evening. we actually traveled out to my old stompin’ grounds in stillwater to the aamodt’s apple orchard and winery. i haven’t been there in a couple years, but its always nice to go back. i have lots of memories of going to that very orchard since i was a just a kid, sometimes with my family and sometimes on school field trips too! i always have a great time getting back to stillwater to photograph couples. :)

kellie + seth – engaged to be married

we had a fun time last saturday at the minnesota landscape arboretum for kellie & seth’s engagement session. every time i am out there i’m amazed at how large the grounds are and how you can absolutely go anywhere and always find something new. such an amazing place, its a shame its so far away from me. :)

beverly + aaron – married october 10th, 2009

beverly & aaron were married last saturday on what usually is supposed to be one of the most beautiful weekends in this part of the state every year. really! usually the fall colors peak around the 2nd week of october each year, so it should have been beautiful and warm and full of lovely fall colors…. but we woke up that morning to snow! crazy… well, regardless it was a bit chilly but we decided to make the most of it and still spent a good amount of time outside.

beverly and aaron met in college when aaron was very involved in baseball and with many of his friends also strongly involved, we had to do a include a little baseball into the day!

amy + matt – married october 3rd, 2009

amy & matt had a lovely wedding on a slightly rainy day during the first weekend in october. its been oddly cool lately, but we certainly made the most of the day we had. i had a very fun time at amy & matt’s wedding. they have a very cute little son named Cole and at the beginning of the wedding their ring bearer had the most pouty look i’ve ever seen! it was the funniest thing!! check it out below and you’ll see what i mean.

amy & matt had their reception at the always fantastic Jax Cafe in northeast minneapolis. i always enjoy the receptions i cover there.

aja + aram – married september 19th, 2009

aja & aram’s story is a very sweet one, going all the way back to the beginning of grade school when aram had a crush on aja, but never fulfilled it until he was much much older needless to say. i had the good fortune to photograph aja’s brother’s wedding a few years ago and now it was aja’s turn.

aja & aram had their wedding at st. sahag’s armenian church in saint paul and then had their reception at aja’s parents home on summit avenue in saint paul. on their way from the ceremony to the reception, aram surprised aja with a trip to the school they grew up together at and he even contacted some of their old teachers to meet them there!
